CAMBRIDGE, October 7, 2018 – I am delighted to serve this superb school. Founded in 1963, Saint Paul’s Choir School (SPCS) prepares boys in grades 3-8 to succeed in the strongest secondary schools, become confident and virtuous leaders, and grow as compassionate, caring adults. Embracing the great cathedral school tradition, SPCS unites a rigorous academic and musical curriculum with the Catholic moral tradition. Within this community of faith, friendship and high expectations, students move through critical developmental periods in their transition from children to men. Over time they build the habits of mind and heart to rise to all of life’s demands and thrive in a world characterized by constant change.
I invite you to explore our website. Learn about our location in the heart of Cambridge’s Harvard Square, one of the world’s great centers of learning, ideas and diversity. Explore our academic programs, ranging from classical subjects such as Latin and rhetoric to studies of current events and advances in social studies, science and mathematics. SPCS’s curriculum is inspired by the Catholic Church’s rich and ever-relevant history of cultural, scientific, literary and philosophical learning. Within small classes, students learn to think critically and apply their skills in interdisciplinary projects. The visual arts play an important role in our programming, and information technology serves as a vital tool for research and for helping students to represent and communicate their understanding.
And of course, our school has a world-class music program that trains all boys in choral music appreciation, theory and practice. Our boys provide the most beautiful liturgical music at daily and Sunday services at Saint Paul’s Church and have released several professional recordings. In addition, they tour internationally and perform alongside renowned groups such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Through this unique educational experience, students build a spiritual, ethical, academic and musical foundation that serves them extraordinarily well throughout their lives. Many SPCS graduates go on to attend all-boys secondary schools such as Roxbury Latin, Belmont Hill, BC High, Xaverian, and Catholic Memorial, while others attend institutions such as Phillips Academy Andover, Portsmouth Abbey, Cambridge Rindge and Latin School and Boston University Academy.
I invite you to experience Saint Paul’s Choir School by attending one of our Admissions Events, where you can learn more about our admissions process and financial aid. You can also hear the choir perform by attending one of the Sunday or weekday liturgies at Saint Paul’s Church. We also welcome you to simply arrange a visit to our Harvard Square campus.
SPCS is a place where voices—and students—soar. Take a closer look.
